Systems Engineer

The Opportunity

Our client is a Newcastle-based managed service provider with a strong focus on cybersecurity across all client environments. They operate as a small, high-performing team supporting a diverse range of industries.

Unlike traditional MSPs, there are no tiered support levels — you’ll work across the full technology stack, with the opportunity to grow your capability and take on a broad range of technical challenges.

Please note: this is a Newcastle based permanent, full-time position.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver end-to-end technical support across Microsoft 365, Windows Server, networking and cloud environments, including administration, troubleshooting and optimisation
• Implement and maintain cybersecurity controls and tooling, including endpoint protection, identity security, and alignment to frameworks such as the Essential Eight
• Support and respond to security incidents and alerts, working through investigation, remediation, and continuous improvement activities
• Contribute to infrastructure and cloud projects, including migrations, deployments, and onboarding of new client environments
• Provide direct client support across phone, remote and on-site engagements, building strong relationships and communicating technical concepts clearly
• Maintain accurate documentation, including system configurations, runbooks and client environments

Required Experience & Skills

• Previous experience in IT support, systems administration, or infrastructure engineering within a commercial or MSP environment
• Exposure to Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, Entra ID, Intune, Defender) and Windows Server technologies
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (firewalls, VPNs, switching, wireless)
• Interest or experience in cybersecurity, including security tooling, frameworks, or best practices
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to work directly with clients and translate technical issues into clear outcomes
• A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to learn quickly and take ownership of work
