There are three different engagement options to take when you accept a contracting position. These options are:
PAYG is the easiest and least time-consuming option if you don’t want to be responsible for administering your payroll, super, taxes, and insurance. Contractors are paid a 25% loading on their base rate, as sick leave and annual leave are not accrued.
As a PAYG Contractor you will be paid fortnightly and we will look after the following on your behalf:
ABN Contracting requires significant costs and time investment to administer your Pty Ltd Company. We highly recommend you first speak to your Tax Accountant to see if this is the right engagement model for you. Instead of Payslips, you will be issued with an RCTI (Recipient Created Tax Invoice) and be paid fortnightly.
As a Pty Ltd Company, you will need to work with your accountant to administer the following:
You will need to provide us with the following:
Can I contract as a Sole Trader and receive the same benefits as a Pty Ltd company?
No, unfortunately, Sole Traders do not apply to this option as we are still legally required to withhold your tax and pay the ATO on your behalf. Speak to your Tax Accountant for further information.
Management Companies work with high-earning contractors who are willing to pay fees to have their payroll administered, insurance covered, and all back-office support provided. You would need to investigate these options and Management Companies yourself and provide us with the details before you start your contract. We are unable to recommend or provide quotes for third-party businesses that offer these services.
We’ve carefully designed a space devoted to empowering technical professionals like you in embarking on the contracting journey. Whether you’re a seasoned contractor or embarking on your contracting journey, we’ve got all the details you need to make an informed decision that best suits you.
How will I get paid?
You will be paid into your nominated bank account fortnightly. Once you have been onboarded into our payroll system, you will be required to provide the correct bank details, superannuation fund details, TFN, etc.
When will I get paid?
Payroll is finalised fortnightly on a Wednesday, reported to the ATO, and paid fortnightly on a Thursday. Please refer to the payment schedule.
How will I receive my payslip?
You can access and download it from your worker portal in Xemplo – ntp.xemplo.com and it will be emailed to you weekly.
When will my super be paid?
Superannuation is currently paid into your nominated account at the end of each month. From 1st July 2026 super will be paid each pay period.
Refer to the ATO website for current payment dates https://www.ato.gov.au/businesses-and-organisations/super-for-employers/paying-super-contributions/super-payment-due-dates
Do I accrue sick leave or annual leave?
As a contractor or on a casual contract agreement, you’re generally not entitled to paid sick leave if you can’t work due to illness or injury. Under awards and agreements, casual employees are also paid:
How do I submit my timesheet?
Please visit the worker portal ntp.xemplo.com to submit your timesheet. To avoid delays in processing your pay, timesheets must be submitted by COB Friday of each week.
The Xemplo platform is available on computers, mobile devices, and tablets enabling you to submit timesheets at your convenience, regardless of location and time.
Please ensure when filling out your timesheet, if you were sick or didn’t work, you indicate whether you were “sick” or “I did not work” from the drop-down tab provided.
A helpful article on submitting your timesheet is included here.
What are the deadlines for submitting timesheets and having them approved by my manager?
How do I submit expenses?
All pre-approved expenses are submitted via the expense section with your timesheet submission. Any supporting documentation/receipts must be attached, and your manager will approve them along with your timesheet. Your expenses will be paid in the next pay run after your manager approves them.
How do I change my personal details, such as address, bank or superannuation details?
Your worker portal in Xemplo is self-service. Please log into your account and change the details. Please double check that any changes to bank details or super fund details are correct – ntp.xemplo.com
What should I do if I am sick, running late, or would like to take leave?
Please ensure you directly inform your NewyTechPeople recruiter as soon as possible about any instances of absence or planned leave. Annual leave will also need to be approved by the client. If you’re running late, it is your responsibility to let your direct manager know as a professional courtesy and in accordance with your contract.
Who do I contact regarding my timesheet or pay?
Please email [email protected] or call Karen on 0419 812 256.
