IT Support Specialist

We’re currently partnering with a regional organisation within the public sector to recruit an IT Support Specialist to join their team. This is an opportunity to step into a well-rounded support role where no two days look the same.
About the Role
This position will see you working across both end-user support and core infrastructure, providing Level 2 support across a variety of systems, devices and environments.
You’ll play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of IT services, supporting users across multiple sites, and contributing to ongoing improvements across systems and processes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing technical support across hardware, software and user environments
- Troubleshooting and resolving issues via the service desk
- Supporting Active Directory, Microsoft 365 and endpoint environments
- Assisting with network infrastructure (switches, VLANs, connectivity)
- Supporting system maintenance, upgrades and patching
- Working with vendors to resolve technical issues
- Maintaining accurate documentation and service records
- Participating in an on-call roster for after-hours support
This role offers a strong mix of hands-on technical work and user interaction, making it ideal for someone who enjoys both problem-solving and working with people.
Please note that this role is located onsite across the Coonabarabran and Coolah sites and will require local candidates or candidates open to relocating.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who brings a solid foundation in IT support and is confident working across both user support and infrastructure environments.
You will ideally have:
- Experience in a Level 2 IT Support or similar role
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft environments (Windows, Active Directory, M365)
- Exposure to networking concepts (switches, VLANs, basic configuration)
- Experience working with IT service desk tools and ticketing systems
- The ability to troubleshoot effectively and think logically under pressure
- Strong communication skills and the ability to support non-technical users
